Session I of the CEA featured the participation of the President of the BCR, who opened the event with the keynote lecture "Current Outlook, Opportunities and Challenges for Sustained Growth," focused on the country's economic prospects and investment opportunities for the development of the Amazon.
This was explained by Alfonso Morante Chávez, chair of the first session of the event and executive of the palm oil company Ocho Sur, who highlighted that the presentation addressed Peru's economic prospects and the challenge of ensuring that good macroeconomic indicators translate into better opportunities for the population, especially for those who live in the rural and most remote areas of the rainforest.
He also detailed that the session featured the participation of a top-tier panel, which included representatives from the financial, business and academic sectors, among them the President of COFIDE; the General Manager of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean; Samuel Dyer, President of Grupo ProAmazonía; and the Rector of the National Agrarian University La Molina.
Morante Chávez announced that, during one of the sessions scheduled for this Saturday, CEA 2026 will address the legal mechanisms that could contribute to accelerating infrastructure development in the Amazon.
"Among the proposals is to strengthen and relaunch the Amazon Promotion Law, with the purpose of addressing the connectivity and competitiveness needs of the region," he said.
Finally, he highlighted that the 7th Congress of Entrepreneurs of the Amazon brings together representatives of the public sector, business people and specialists to debate economic growth, infrastructure, financing, forest conservation and new sustainable development opportunities for the Amazonian regions.
